ASUU Strike-We will do anything if lecturers failed to resume next week-FG

The Federal Government has revealed there are so many options left if the striking lecturers failed to resume academic activities next week.

The Minister of labour, Chris Ngige made this known while speaking with Channels TV on Friday.

He said, “There are so many options left. We have the labour laws and I have options left to me in the labour laws. I have other channels,”

During the briefing with Channels Television, Ngigie noted that the Academic Union is not considering the damage their demands will create.

He added that he is inviting the Academic Staff Union of Universities next week, where he stated that he is  collating responses from the Accountant General of the Federation’s Office and everybody who has something to do with this matter.

“I’m inviting them (ASUU) next week, we are doing side meetings on our part. I’m collating responses from the Accountant General of the Federation’s Office and everybody who has something to do with this matter.” he said.

On the matter of resuming back to school, Ngige noted I won’t be long.

Ngige confirmed that government had agreed to try out University Transparency Academic Solution (UTAS), the payment platform ASUU proposed when it turned down the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

He added that the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) had completed the first phase of UTAS assessment.
